These are all excellent questions, and Im going to answer them in this post. 

 

What you need to know

Not all people are created equal, on a physical level, that is. 

There are three main body types; these rules that govern our physical bodies determine what happens to us as we go about our lives eating and being merry.  

I am going to use Ayurveda teachings to explain these three body types, Ayurveda is a 5000-year-old medical teaching from ancient India. Ayurveda is a very well respected practice, and in this post, i will break it down to our modern way of life so you can easily understand its old ways. 

 

VATA DOSHA (Ectomorph)

The Vata Dosha is your typical "outgoing, overtly expressive person." These people look and seem "wired." Vata's are high strung individuals with an overactive metabolism that will consume muscle mass if not adequately balanced. 

 

 

However, it's not all flowers and sunlight for the VATA's of the world, The Ayurveda definition of VATA is "WIND" This means that Vatas are prone to dry skin, constipation and other disorders associated with dehydration. The Vata will be forever correcting the balance of fluids in their bodies and actively seeking physical peace and relaxation. 

 

Out Of Balance VATA 

When VATA is off balance a wide variety off issues can occur, such as; 

  • Hypertension
  •  insomnia
  • Poor circulation
  • Cramps
  •  Intolerance to cold weather
  • Dry Skin
  • Constipation
  • Gas
  • Restless

 

 

 

PITTA DOSHA (Endomorph)

These people are your alpha males and alpha females because they have a natural ability to communicate effortlessly and efficiently.

 

Pittas can gain weight evenly across their entire bodies, and maintain a consistent weight with moderate exercise, assuming they are eating somewhat healthy. Pittas may complain of being hot, and this could be a side effect of a strong metabolism and digestive system. 

 

Pitta is intellectual, strong-willed, and doesn't give up easily. These innovative thinkers will also have the energy to follow through with plans where most people give up or get burned out. 

 

However, dont be fooled by Pitta's impressive qualities; when Pitta is out of balance, it can be rough for everyone. 

 

Out Of Balance PITTA

 

Moods

  • Controlling
  • Irrational 
  • overly excited
  • Judgmental
  • Irritable
  • Bad temper

 

Symptoms

  • Loose bowels
  • Unexplained rashes
  • Acne
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Acid reflux

KAPHA DOSHA (mesomorph)

Kapha's are usually mellow and slower than their counterparts. These calm and loving people are the teddy bears of all body types, male and female.  

 

 

Typical Characteristics:

  • Stocky upper body frames
  • Harder to stay lean
  • Robust and solid body with slow, stable endurance.
  • Prone to higher blood pressure and cholesterol issues. 

 

 

Out of Balance KAPHA

  • Retains fluid easy
  • Gains weight easy
  • Heavy mucus production
  • Dull & slow
  • Slow digestion

 

 

When in Balance 

  • Relaxed
  • Loving
  • Kind
  • Trustworthy
  • Strong immunity
  • Robust figure
  • Sleeps soundly
  • Thick Hair
  • Healthy Skin
  • Compassionate & affectionate
